There was a time when we attempted overseas production for the Tenuis series. However, the conclusion we ultimately reached was that it must be "Made in Japan." Why did we decide on Japanese production, even at a higher cost? It stemmed from the relentless battle over millimeters between designer Sola and the craftsmen. Yet
, this is not to say that Japanese production is inherently superior or that overseas production is inherently inferior. The emphasis is solely on the fact that, at present, certain aspects can only be produced by a limited number of craftsmen and workshops in Japan. In reality, there were situations where production was impossible both in Japan and overseas.
The "highly skilled technique" of stitching together 0.5mm
goat leather: The goat leather used for Tenuis' interior is a mere 0.5mm thick. Stitching this thin leather precisely in place without wrinkles or misalignment requires not mechanical processing, but the craftsman's meticulous fine adjustments. Even the slightest misalignment in needle position or stitching line can prevent cards from fitting or cause the wallet to become loose. Currently, only the production system in Japan can achieve this level of precise design.
Particularly challenging is crafting the twin card slot section. First, precise creases are made on the goat leather component, then stitching is applied at three points—top, bottom, and side—from the inside of the slot. Insufficient skill at this stage leads to misalignment. Finally, a straight stitch is added to separate the top and bottom from the surface leather of the slot. This must be perfectly parallel/perpendicular to the wallet's overall shape. Even a 1mm deviation on one side, or 1mm deviation at both the start and end points, results in failure.

"Ease of Management" Ensures Quality
The designer personally visits the production site, enabling immediate implementation of detailed adjustments. This is why we can create Tenuis and our various wallet collections. Holding one in your hands, you'll appreciate the beauty and robustness of the stitching.
