The design philosophy behind the Tenuis series is an extension of the crafting I was engrossed in as a child. Drawing nets on graph paper, cutting out cardboard, and creating three-dimensional shapes—through this repetition, I discovered the joy of seeing flat surfaces take shape. Transforming robots, airplanes, tools, etc.
When you try to bring your own drawings to life, there's always a moment where consistency breaks down. Instead of compromising, you have to redraw the plans down to the millimeter and rearrange the structure. I believe this "battle for consistency" is what has cultivated my design skills in today's product development.
Try taking apart everyday tools and imagining their unfolded patterns. Just having that perspective can gradually change how you see things. Providing children with craft paper is a better way to foster their creativity and skills than giving them poorly made toys.
