The Tenuis Zipper-Type Canvas Wallet, back in production after a six-year hiatus, is SOLAHANPU’s all-time bestseller in terms of sales volume alone. It’s a compact wallet that offers the lightness and ease of use unique to canvas.
This new Tenuis Zipper-Type Canvas Edition is not a direct reproduction of the 2019 model. It incorporates improvements made during the subsequent production of the leather version, as well as refinements from the past few years, resulting in a more refined design. While the appearance remains largely unchanged, this slim wallet has been meticulously re-engineered for a better user experience.
One of the most noticeable changes is the adjustment to the card pocket dimensions.
The standard card size is generally considered to be approximately 54 × 86 mm.In the early Tenuis Zipper-Type Canvas version, as well as the early leather models, the design was based on a structure that held two cards side by side. Accordingly, we designed the card pocket to be 110 mm—adding just 2 mm of clearance to the 54 mm × 54 mm = 108 mm standard.
At the time, we judged these measurements to be theoretically sound, but in the actual process of making wallets, there are factors that cannot be captured by numbers alone. The feel of inserting and removing cards varies due to slight differences in the bending of the goatskin, stitching positions, and variations in material thickness from piece to piece.
Furthermore, while goatskin is soft and highly elastic, it can absorb sweat and moisture over time and shrink slightly. When these factors combined, the card pockets sometimes felt too tight under the initial specifications.
Therefore, starting with the 2023 production run, we’ve added an extra 2 mm of clearance to the width of the card pockets. This improvement strikes a balance between allowing cards to slide in and out more smoothly while still holding them securely.
You might think 2 mm is a small amount, but in thin, mini, or compact wallets, this difference significantly impacts the daily user experience. Adjusting the internal dimensions is key to enhancing comfort within the constraints of a limited thickness.
We’ve incorporated these improved specifications into the latest Tenuis Zipper-Type Canvas Edition as well. If you’ve used the original 2019 version, you’ll likely notice a difference in how easily cards slide in and out, as well as in the overall ease of use.
