"Square" shapes, which do not exist in nature, maximize organizational efficiency

When we look at the natural world, we find that there are virtually no straight, parallel, or right-angled "quadrilateral" shapes. However, when it comes to items that store things efficiently, such as bags and wallets, mathematical and physical regularities are extremely important.

Many of man-made objects, including cards and banknotes, are rectangular. The most efficient way to organize these and eliminate dead space is through a design based on regularity. The shape of our wallets is the mathematical answer to how humans, living in an irregular natural environment, can most efficiently carry their belongings.
