Japan, Taiwan, China. Domestic production was the "optimal solution" arrived at after exploring production bases.

In our manufacturing endeavors, the biggest challenge is deciding "where and how to manufacture." SOLA has also moved its production base from Japanese craftsmen to factories in Taiwan, then to factories in China, and now back to Japanese factories and craftsmen, all in pursuit of the quality we desire.

It's commonly said that "Japanese products are of high quality, while overseas products are not," but our experience working in the field is a little different. If a company establishes a thorough management system overseas, it can produce high-quality goods. In fact, in the past, a Taiwanese factory was able to successfully produce a highly complex bag that some Japanese factories were unable to manufacture.

However, the situation changes when it comes to small products like wallets in the Tenuis series, which demand "extreme thinness" and require extremely difficult manufacturing processes. For products where even a millimeter-level deviation directly translates to "difficulty of use," production in Japan currently works well. I believe that each product has its own country and production system that is best suited to it.
