From the Production Floor: A Glimpse into Tenuis's Manufacturing Process

Here’s a glimpse into the production process of the Tenuis Slim Compact Wallet (Zipper Type, 3rd Generation) in canvas.

The part I’m showing you today is common not only to the canvas version of the zipper-type wallet but also to the leather version and the flap-type wallet (formerly 4th generation).

↑ This is the hidden pocket area, where we’ll be attaching plastic divider pieces. Attaching these serves several purposes, such as preventing the contents from falling out and creating a slot for keys.

↑ This is a view from the back. We temporarily secure the plastic parts in their designated positions.

↑ Looking at it from the front, as you can see, this edge physically prevents the contents from falling out. After we sew the seam, it will form a slot for inserting keys.

Even though this is a minimalist wallet, the manufacturing process and components are complex, so I can’t afford to let my guard down. Since the space is created by utilizing dead space, this adds almost no thickness to the wallet.

When empty, this bifold wallet is 6 mm thick, but incorporating a hidden pocket into it was quite a challenge during the initial design phase. For the discerning minimalist, we’ll continue to strive for excellence in both design and craftsmanship.
