While we now use leather in our compact wallets, there's a reason why our brand name is SOLAHANPU, which means canvas.
One day, while browsing in a shop, I stumbled upon a bag made of "waxed canvas," which, despite being canvas, had a glossy finish and a substantial feel similar to leather. While regular canvas is durable, it still has a strong "fibery" texture and feels very much like cloth. This paraffin-treated material, however, was stiff, had cool creases and chalk marks, and was less prone to pilling—it looked like a completely different material.
It was an intuitive feeling of "this is it." I wanted to create the ultimate tool with this material, which, while still being a fabric fiber, has a texture close to leather. That's the origin of SOLAHANPU. Although our lineup of leather wallets has expanded since then, the underlying principle has always been the balance between "the charm of the material and functional beauty." The impulse of "this is cool" that I felt at that time has become the guideline for our current product design.
