Long before “thin wallets” and “compact wallets” became commonplace, SOLAHANPU had already been developing the Tenuis series. In this video, we discuss the history and development background of Tenuis—specifically, the trial and error that led to its current form.
Today, most slim mini wallets have a similar structure. However, Tenuis took a different approach from the very beginning. Our goal was to create a thinner, more compact wallet while retaining the user-friendly aspects of traditional wallets.
Regarding the materials used on the inside of the wallet, the first two models utilized lightweight materials selected for their chemical properties, aiming to achieve both thinness and lightness. Subsequently, through extensive material research to enhance comfort, texture, and durability, the series evolved into a goatskin model. Today, we prioritize a balance that encompasses not only thinness but also storage capacity, ease of use, and the satisfaction of ownership.
What sets Tenuis apart is not just that it is thin and compact, but its structure, which resists bulging even when filled. We’ve designed it so that cards, coins, and bills do not pile up in one place, prioritizing comfort during actual use. This philosophy has remained consistent from the very first model to the present day.
Another defining feature of Tenuis is that we focused on a lifestyle of carrying only the bare essentials long before the world began moving toward cashless payments. While mini and compact wallets have become commonplace today, this series represents a vision we’ve been pursuing since before that trend even began.
A wallet is an everyday tool. That’s precisely why we believe it’s important not only for it to look good but also to feel comfortable every time you use it. Tenuis isn’t a wallet created to follow trends; it’s a product shaped by years of prototyping and refinement.
