The Tenuis series of slim, compact wallets has been available in Japan since 2016, and the third generation—which remains the mainstream model today (available in both leather and canvas versions)—was launched in 2019. From then until now, when people think of mini or compact wallets, they generally imagine leather ones.

When it comes to canvas manufacturers, there are many that embody a traditional Japanese image of simplicity and sturdiness, making the most of the material’s texture. However, most of these focus on the merits of canvas as a “bag material,” and very few venture into the category of compact wallets, which compete on cutting-edge functionality and millimeter-level thinness.
Amidst this landscape, SOLAHANPU has chosen a “unique position”: deliberately using canvas to create wallets with distinctive features found nowhere else.
Our goal was to achieve a “natural” thinness that adapts to modern lifestyles while preserving the texture of canvas. To overturn the common belief that “canvas wallets are too casual and tend to be bulky,” we redesigned the structure from scratch.
- A layout logic that physically disperses the overlap of parts
- A proprietary construction method that maintains the fabric’s strength while achieving a thickness of just **6 mm**
- Stitching that keeps the contours sharp and maintains the form of a minimalist wallet
We rejected the compromise that “it’s inevitable for fabric to be thick” and instead sought to give it “distinctive characteristics” not found in conventional canvas products. This pursuit, ongoing since 2016, is precisely why we introduced canvas into a market dominated by leather goods.
